Abstract
We report a case of spinal epidural cavernous hemangioma presenting with paraplegia. A 68-year-old woman presented with weakness of both lower extremities and numbness in the both thighs. MRI scans revealed an epidural mass at the T7-T9 level. The mass was completely resected through the T7-T8 total laminectomy. Histological examination revealed a typical cavernous hemangioma. The postoperative course was uneventful and the patient¡¯s motor was recovered. Cavernous hemangiomas of the spine commonly affect the vertebral bodies. Although they may present variable extension into the epidural space, pure epidural cavernous hemangiomas are very rare, consisting approximately 4% of all spinal epidural tumors. It should be considered in the differential diagnosis of epidural spinal tumors.
